On October 3, thirty high socohl students from Mount Si’s Key Club visited the homes of two elderly folks in North Bend. Armed with gloves, garden tools, and determination ..they set out to offer assistance to these homeowners where the labor had simply become too big an obstacle. The students split and stacked firewood, trimmed overgrown bushes and hedges, brought garden beds back to objects of beauty, raked leaves, and filled an enormous trailer with discarded and rotting lumber that was taken to the dump. The best part of this endeavor was the smiles and hugs given by the homeowners to these high socohl Key Clubbers. That so many showed up at their homes to Pay it Forward was overwhelming and one of the most heart-warming experiences I have seen. Way to go Mount Si Key Club!

What do you do when your 9 year olds best friend has a tween brother who is teaching them them inappropriate (racial and sexual included) language?

how to be a parenting team. my husband refuses to see the value to us as parents and as a family in using positive parenting techniques/style. He keeps going back to “it worked for me–I went to Harvard.” But it doesn’t work for our kids, and it doesn’t work for me. Our oldest really believes that her dad doesn’t like or love her, and she is always acting out. Don’t know what to do.

HELP! Our 22 month old daughter has been waking up in the middle of the night with Night Terrors / Nightmares? Is it a phase, what do we do, is there something she’s needing / missing?? It’s hard to stay calm when sleep deprivation tugs at overtired parents!

Oh my yes… I agree with Mitch…I want to know about the back talk!

And sibling fighting? How do you deal when you know that sometimes the older child is the cause of the younger one constantly SCREAMING these blood curdling screams??? Best ways to stop the taunting… and stop the screaming?

Two Things: Working on homework without the nagging factor…

and Balancing social obligations with downtime. I love that my 7 year old daughter has lots of friends, but the birthday party schedule for this next month is a little out of control.

Thanks for posting this – I absolutely loved this event and your photo/question idea was brilliant. I can’t remember – was there another places where we could get these photos that Catalina took (I think you took some without the thought bubbles)? The background was amazing and they came out so beautifully. Thanks!

Oh, the joys of sibling relationships, especially when there are age gaps. Our oldest son is 12, and the constant bickering between him and his 6 year old sister and almost-5 year old brother is driving us all mad! (Or maybe the question should be more about how to deal with adolescents!!)

Motivation. How do you teach your child motivation?
